The 1st Sundrop [Video]

[There is a young woman wandering around, lost and confused in the snow. Her long blonde hair trails behind her, an obstacle for people walking around her, who trip and step on it as she wanders in a dazed state.]

Aah—oh, excuse me—hey!!

[Something yanks on her hair and she falls backwards into the snow, where she sits for a minute as she quickly gathers up her hair into her arms. As she gets up, she continues looking around, becoming more and more scared and upset.]

Eugene…? Eugene? Maximus?

[The realization that she’s alone seems to be hitting her now as she starts looking around frantically.]

They can’t be gone…no, they were right behind me, I saw them…I heard them, they were right here! Eugene can’t have left…Maximus wouldn’t let him…no, Mother can’t be right about this, no, no…

…wait, where’s…

Pascal? PASCAL!!

[The young woman drops her hair and falls to her knees, digging frantically through the snow. Later, she’ll be overjoyed over having experienced snow for the first time, but right now, her chameleon companion is missing, and she needs him now more than ever.]

Pascal, don’t hide, this isn’t funny…I don’t know where Eugene and Maximus are, and they were right here…and the kingdom looks completely different now…and it’s snowing, and Pascal, please come out from wherever you are…

[After a minute of digging, she finds her friend, who is sitting on a little black communication device, looking cold, blue, and just as confused as the young woman who picks him up and hugs him tight.]

Pascal!! Oh, thank goodness, I thought I’d lost you too…they were right behind us, weren’t they…?

[The chameleon turns green, his normal color, and nods, causing her to look relieved. So they didn’t abandon her, something else just happened. Pascal then points to the black box he had been sitting on, and the woman, Rapunzel, looks at it curiously before picking it up and poking at it.]

Oooh, what’s this…?

[And the poking of the communication device commences.]

[ What lovely hair! Oh, he's admiring. But to business first, of course, lest she find herself even more upset. ]

Miss — might I be of assistance? There is nothing to fear, I assure you. We, all of us, have found this place in much the same manner you did just now. I would be happy to explain further, if you desire.

[ Albus doesn't approach, just gives her space and time to decide whether to take his advice or not. ]

[You've caught her at her most freaked out, I'm afraid, so she jumps up and grabs at her hair, before pulling a frying pan out of seemingly nowhere and holding it out in front of her in a defensive stance. You are new and therefore scary.]

Wh-who are you? Where am I? What's going on?

[ A completely natural reaction! Albus raises his hands, palms up and empty, in a sign of peace, continuing to remain at a safe distance. ]

I'm terribly sorry to have startled you. Do forgive the intrusion — I merely wished to inform you of your current, and though I'm loathe to admit, unfortunate situation.

[ Pauses, to allow his presence to sink in a bit, before continuing with as gentle a voice as he can manage. There's something about her, nagging at the back of his mind, but he pushes it aside for now. ]

As of this moment, you have left your world and entered a place where those of differing worlds have similarly found themselves. An alternate reality, if you will. I confess, it is terribly confusing, but not entirely unbearable when one is with company.

[Rapunzel blinks, still looking very confused. Her chameleon friend pops out of her hair for a second to look at Albus, before going back in. Too cold for lizards.

Slowly, she starts to lower the frying pan.]

I...don't think I understand...other worlds? Like...how books are other worlds?

[She's so confused, poor thing.]

[ Smiling at the lizard that briefly revealed itself, Albus takes a tentative step forward whilst shrugging out of his robe. He drapes it over his arm and holds it out to her, not wanting to startle the young woman again, should she think he might be a threat. ]

First, we really must get you and your friend — yes, hello! — inside where it's warm. Here, allow me. You're hardly dressed to properly ward off a chill.

You'll notice in a bit, believe me. [HE'S NOT TINY-- okay yeah he is short but it's not like he's miniature! Then again, that was pretty much his reaction when he found the video option.]

Um, you're in the City. You're safe, but I don't think your friends will be following you for a while. They might already be here, though.

I can help you find your way around for now-- assuming I can find you. Do you see any landmarks or anything? A fountain? A store?

No, I'm in my tea shop. The device is... [He really doesn't understand how it works, much less how to explain it.] It's a form of long-distance communication. Like a messenger hawk. Except much faster and it doesn't need to eat.
