Oohhh...I've got this weird headache, for some reason...like there was something heavy there or something. I don't know...what was I doing yesterday? I don't really remember anything.

I hope I didn't hit my head...that would explain the headache, though. Ohh, these weird odd days...I don't like not remembering things!

...wait, I remember one thing. Something about an otter and a lot of puns involving an otter. But that's it...Odd.

Oh well! Must not have been anything important.

...Uh...well, I was wondering...could I talk to you? I sort of miss talking to you...

Yeah, I'm alright. Less t' worry about, really. Mostly. Have t' eat a lot, I s'pose.

Are you able to eat everything you're supposed to? Do otters have a special diet? Is there anything I can do to help out while you're like this?

Yeah, yeah, don't worry, jus' means I've been fishin' for a while. [And yes, his fur is all wet and spiky.] Cheers for askin'.

[Rapunzel gets a cheerful, otter-y smile for that.] Yeah? You're adorable yourself, an' I reckon you would be if you was an otter or anythin' really. Specially with those eyes of yours. [This is a weird conversation to be taking place with Chris as an otter.]

[She laughs at his wet spiky fur, before blushing a bit and smiling more.]

Oh, Chris!! Thank you!!

[Weird? Ha! Rapunzel likes weird.]

I mean it. [CAN YOU SEE HOW MUCH HE MEANS IT? OTTER EYES, LOOKING INTO YOUR SOUL.]

[Oh, she sees how much he means it, and she blushes, smiling a bit and looking away.]

[Chris smiles back. Otter-smile.]

[This has all pissed Flynn off, you know.]

[Probably Chris provoking him isn't helping.]

[This is Eugene putting on his big boy pants. And then being sad.]

I thought we weren't friends anymore.

[She's quiet for a moment.]

...I was mad at you. I never wanted to stop being your friend, Eugene...I was just mad you lied to me. I...can understand its hard to go completely cold turkey, but I just wish you hadn't lied...

[It would be so much easier if she was mad at him for stealing. Stealing he could promise to never do again, and it would be hard but he could do it he, he knows he could, for her.

But he can't promise not to lie. A lie of omission is still a lie.

Should he tell her the truth, that she is the Lost Princess? That the woman who raised her is not her mother but her kidnapper? How would she react? What would she feel? What good would it do, with neither of her mothers present? No chance to confront Gothel, or to get to know her real parents. It would only hurt her.

He can't tell her, even though it means lying to her. Better for her to live a lie than suffer that pain.]

I forgive you. I...well, I'm learning a lot here...and I guess that sometimes lying happens. I don't like it...but it's one of those things sometimes people have to do...right?

[She bites her lip a bit. She's trying, Flynn, she really is...the world outside the tower is strange, the world of social interactions is strange...but she wants to fit in. And she knows that maybe, sometimes lying happens.]

I guess I overreacted a bit.
